Job Description



The Assistant Director of Housekeeping plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction within the resort. Working closely with the Director of Housekeeping, the Assistant Director will be responsible for supervising housekeeping staff, managing daily operations, and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the housekeeping department. This role is crucial in upholding the resort's reputation for exceptional guest service and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating housekeeping staff, providing leadership and support to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout the property to meet or exceed guest expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Housekeeping to plan and manage work schedules based on peak occupancy periods and special events.
  • Participate in regular property inspections to identify maintenance and cleanliness needs.
  • Stay informed on new cleaning tools and methods and help implement improvements that enhance service quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in conducting 90-day and annual performance evaluations for housekeeping staff, providing feedback and establishing performance goals.
  • Support the Director of Housekeeping in managing the department’s budget by monitoring expenses and recommending cost-saving strategies.
  • Contribute to achieving the property's financial goals by understanding the department's impact on overall performance.
  • Help ensure resort service standards are consistently met to deliver outstanding guest satisfaction.
  • Support the development, coaching, mentoring, and training of housekeeping team members to promote a culture of excellence.
  • Provides oversight of the onsite commercial laundry facility in the absence of the Director of Housekeeping, ensuring operations run smoothly across large-capacity washers, dryers, and folding stations; prior experience in a commercial laundry setting is preferred.
  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a resort or hotel setting with at least 200 rooms
  • Proven track record of supervising teams, managing daily operations, and upholding high cleanliness standards in a guest-facing environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-occupancy resort environment strongly preferred

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, best practices, cleaning procedures, and safety standards
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities with a hands-on, supportive approach
  • Effective communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to remain flexible and available to work any shift, any day of the week, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Proficiency in using housekeeping software, property management systems, or related technology preferred
  • Knowledge of budgeting, inventory control, and cost-saving practices a plus

  • Must be able to lift 35lbs
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
